Dambusters - The Morning After by Gerald Coulson.
Just after midnight, on the night of 16/17 May 1943, Lancaster crews of 617 Squadron undertook what was to become the most remarkable and probably best remembered air raid of the Second World War. Flying all the way from their base in England in darkness at tree-top height, with just the light of the moon to guide them, the specially selected crews made a surprise attack on the mighty hydro-electric dams in the Ruhr. Flying specially modified aircraft, each Lancaster was equipped with the unique cylindrical hydro-statically detonated bomb as conceived by Barnes Wallis. This huge device when released from the aircraft flying at exactly 230mph and at the precise height of 60 ft spun onto the surface of the water. To achieve the critical height above the water at moment of release, two beams of light, from front and aft, were projected from the aircraft on to the surface of the water, creating a neat figure-of-eight on the surface below. As each bomb bounced across the water towards its target, it struck the dam wall, sank to the pre-set depth, and exploded. The results were devastating. Led by the mercurial Squadron Leader Guy Gibson, ignoring furious defensive gunfire while flying perilously close to the water, each crew made their precision run at the target, released their deadly bomb, and those lucky enough to survive the barrage of tracer shells and anti-aircraft fire, escaped into the darkness. Not all of them did. In the space of those few, highly charged minutes, the Lancaster crews of 617 Squadron wrote their names into history. Sixty-four years on, the memory of their exploits and the courage displayed by the crews on that historic raid, together with the genius of Bames Wallis, remain undimmed. Gerald Coulsons painting shows a single Lancaster of 617 Squadron, one of the lucky ones having made it safely back to base, proudly standing alone as if in tribute to those that didnt return.

The Golden Boy by Peter Deighan.
Kentucky - born Steve Cauthen was just 12 years old when his father Tex finally agreed to help the single-minded young man realise a burning ambition to become a jockey provided he didnt let success make him big-headed. No parental proviso was ever more faithfully fulfilled.
In the year of his seventeenth birthday the kid rode 487 winners of 6 million dollars, including the U.S. Triple Crown on Affirmed. He went on to captivate British hearts two years later. By 1984 he was champion. But better was to come. No wonder the fairytale ingredients of 1985 have fired the imagination and talent of Peter Deighan to such compelling effect.

Also included are Golden Fleece, Reference Point, Teenoso, The Minstrel and the fantastic Nashwan. Any of these could be classified as the greatest.

The Safe Return by Robin Smith.
A B17 arriving at its home base somewhere in Norfolk, as its attending P-51 Mustangs continue a short way to there respective base. The Boeing B17 Flying Fortress was the prime instrument in the evaluation of the American strategic bombing, and enjoyed a measure of affection from the aircrew like no other aircraft. Altogether, 12731 Flying Fortresses were built. While its principle function was to drop bombs on the enemy, the fort also performed many other tasks such as dropping propaganda leaflets, food supplies, and even life boats to ditched aircrews. During the war the B17s dropped 640,036 US tons of bombs on European targets alone. This compares with 452,508 tons by the Consolidated Liberators. Following 1935, when the prototype B17 was built, constant improvements increased its bomb load from 22,000lbs to 36,000lbs.

Preparing for Action by Robin Smith.
A Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb of 303 (Polish Sqn) flown by CO. Sqn. Ldr. J Zumbach. A quick and efficient turnaround of fighting aircraft on the front line was of paramount importance, and much was left in the hands of the all important ground crew. The importance of the so called erks which included such duties as armourers, re-fuelers, engine and airframe technicians etc. is often forgotten. Let us remember that without these people the aircraft would never have been able to take part in any action at all, and many were killed doing their duty on the ground. The image also helps to promote the fact that flying along side the Spitfires were Hawker Hurricanes, as one is indeed landing in the background.
Signed limited edition of 500 prints. Paper size 25.5 inches x 19.5 inches (65cm x 49cm). Price £80.00

Vital Support by Robert Taylor.
Crucial to every squadron in the RAF were the unsung heroes of World War II - the ground crew. Without the vital support of these dedicated men who refuelled the aircraft, rearmed them, maintained them and kept them flying, the pilots and aircrew would, quite simply, never have got into the air. Robert Taylors drawing Vital Support shows ground crew bombing up a Mosquito of RAF Bomber Command.

Falklands Casevac, Ajax Bay, 28th May 1982 by David Shepherd.
During the fierce fighting on 28/29 May 1982 in the battle for Goose Green, the first major land battle of the Falklands campaign, a detachment of Scout helicopters from 656 Squadron Army Air Corps operated in support of 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment. Their main task was flying ammunition to the forward companies and evacuating thirty two seriously wounded soldiers to the Field Surgical Team established in the disused refrigeration plant at Ajax Bay. Flying operations continued throughout the night in appalling weather and irrespective of bombing attacks by Argentinean aircraft on the Fleet in San Carlos Water. This painting depicts a near-miss from a mirage fighter bomber on the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Stromness and the Europic Ferry. Captain J G Greenhalgh, Scout detachment commander and pilot of XT649 was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his gallantry during this battle. The painting shows him in his aircraft with his aircrewman Cpl J F Gammon, alongside. During the campaign over 400 casualties were swiftly evacuated by helicopters of 3 Commando Brigade Air Squadron Royal Marines and 656 Squadron Army Air Corps and all survived.
