The charge of the
21st Lancers during the battle of Omdurman during the war in the Sudan
1898. General Horatio Herbert Kitchener (Later Lord Kitchener) attacked
the Mahdists with a force of 26,000 men. Winston Churchill was among the
21st Lancers who charged the Dervish lines not knowing the dervish
strength as thousands appeared from behind the dunes.
