Nighttime Bombardment of Algiers by
Thomas Luny. Depicts the attack by the British and Dutch fleets against the
Barbary Corsairs on the 27th August 1816. The bombardment lasted 10
hours and the losses on both sides were very high but it was a great
success with over 1650 enslaved prisoners liberated.
