Claudius, AD50 by Thomas Davidson. Caractacus lead the Britans during their guerilla war against the
Roman legions during the period AD43 to AD50. during the Second Roman
Invasion of Britain. In AD50 Roman legions under Ostorious Scapula
cornered Caracticus and his force on a hill in Shropshire near the welsh
Border. Caracticus escaped and fleed north to the Brigantes tribe. He
tried to recruit them to oppose the Romans but the Tribal Queen handed him
over to the Romans. he was taken with his family to Rome where the Emperor
Claudius I paraded Caracticus and his family through he streets of
Rome. After this spectacle Claudius amazingly freed Caracticus
and his family.
