Gary Keane
Gary Keane is one of the leading sporting artists in the UK. He initially worked as a freelance illustrator on various newspapers in Fleet Street, working for 20 years at the Daily Mail producing illustrations for the section called Focus on Fact and also The Gary Player Golf Strip for the Sunday Express. Gary Keane also produced illustrations for advertising, and finished artwork for various book publishers, including Penguin, Corgi, Transworld and many others through Artists Partners, a major UK arists agency. As his career moved forward he received a number of commissions for sporting paintings and many turned into limited edition sporting prints including artwork of leading sports stars such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Michael Atherton, Ian Wright, Sir Garfield Sobers, Sir Stirling Moss, Jimmy Greaves and Ellen MacArthur. |

The Double 2001 / 2002 by Gary Keane. It was Saturday 4th May 2002, the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Wonderful goals by Ray Parlour and Freddie Ljungberg for Arsenal were too much for their London rivals Chelsea to capture the FA Cup. Four days later, on Wednesday 8th, Arsenal rode into Old Trafford. This time a goal by Sylvain Wiltord on his 100th appearance for the club was enough for Arsene Wenger's team to overcome Manchester United and clinch the Premiership title, maintaining a record of scoring in every league game of the season. For the second time in four years under their long-serving and inspirational captain Tony Adams, Arsenal had performed the classic double of English football, the third in their history making 2001-02, a season never to be forgotten. |

Sir Stirling Moss OBE by Gary Keane. During his professional career which started in 1949 and ended in a horrific and still unexplained crash at Goodwood on Easter Monday 1962, Moss drove 84 different types of automobiles in 495 events, finished in 366 of them and won an amazing 222 times. He is shown here in his No.7 Maserati, which he drove in the British and German Grand Prix of 1956. |
Matt Dawson - Images of the Lions by Gary Keane. Following an injury to first choice scrum half Rob Howley, Northampton and Englands Matt Dawson started for the crucial first test on the 21st June in Cape Town. With the game finely poised entering its final phase Matt scored an amazing try faking an overhead pass which fooled the whole Springbok defence leaving him to run in unopposed. This set up the platform for a famous victory and eventually an historic series win. |
