Pride of Lions 74 by Keith Fearon.

In 1974 the greatest rugby union side ever to leave the British Isles took on the mighty Springboks in a gruelling 22 match series, including four test matches. By the end, each member of that historic team had entered British Rugby folklore. Several of the victorious side from the 1971 tour of New Zealand united once again and accomplished a remarkable unbeaten record of 21 consecutive victories and a draw in the final test, however, many commentators feel that a perfect record was denied due to poor refereeing. Individual performances, which caught the headlines, included the magnificent half-back pairing of Phil Bennett and Gareth Edwards. JJ Williams completed two brilliant tries during the third test and finished with an impressive 112 tour tries in total. Roger Uttleys appearance in no less than 16 of the 22 games was a formidable achievement and JPR Williams, possibly the greatest ever full back, would have won the final test with a magnificent run to set up Fergus Slatterys try only for it to be dubiously disallowed. Scotlands Ian McGeechan demonstrated superb agility and pace in the centre whilst fellow country man, Andy Irvine, produced countless moments of sublime skill in the final two tests and will always be remembered as one of the most gifted players ever to don a Lions shirt. The Lions tremendous forward line led by inspirational Captain Willie John McBride was in many respects the driving force behind the success of the 1974 tour. McBrides courage and leadership singled him out above all others, as this was to be his fifth and final Lions tour. McBrides Lions career spanned a remarkable 12 years and 17 tests, a record, which may never be surpassed. The other forwards including Cotton, McLauchlan, Gordon Brown, Windsor, Slattery and Mervyn Davies combined effectively to set up a strong platform for victory and proved to be stalwarts in both attack and defence. Everyone returned from the 1974 tour a hero and it would be fair to say that this unparalleled squad is still a benchmark to which each and every successive Lions team since 1974 have strived to emulate.

Honours Even by Keith Fearon.

Published to celebrate one of the finest games of international rugby ever seen, this print captures the brave defence of England halting the mighty Jonah Lomu. The 26-26 draw was the highest in the history of international rugby.

The Vital Wicket by Keith Fearon.

One of the most enthralling Test series in history unfolded during the summer of 1998 between England and South Africa. Led by new captain Alec Stewart, England entered the series with renewed optimism. Following a rain affected 1st Test which England were unlucky not to win and defeat in the 2nd, England looked to heading towards defeat as wickets tumbled on the final day of the 3rd Test at Old Trafford. As Robert Croft entered the fray, nobody could have envisaged the magnificent rearguard action about to unfold. After three and a half hours at the crease with the help of sterling support from Darren Gough and Angus Fraser in an unbelievably tense last over, England's tailenders managed to hang on to fight another day. England buoyed by a welcome return to form by eventual man of the series Mike Atherton, who amassed 493 runs at an average of 54.78 and the drea attack of Fraser, Cork and Gough, levelled the series in the 4th Test at Trent Bridge with Gus Fraser finishing with figures of 10 for 122. Everything was set up for a dramatic finish at Headingley on a pitch notorious for producing results. With the match fairly even England's bowlers destroyed the South African openers in their second innings to create a seemingly invincible position until Jonry Rhodes and Brian McMillan staged a dramatic fightback. It was left to local hero Darren Gough to clinch the game on the final morning leaving the South Africans tantalisingly short and giving England their first major series win in twelve years.

Phil Neville by Keith Fearon.

Phil Neville made his international debut at an even younger age than brother Gary, when still only just 19 years old. By doing so he and his sibling became the first brothers to play for England since the legendary Charltons in the 1960s. Although predominantly a left back, Phil has proved on countless occasions that he is also extremely comfortable at going forward. Since his arrival on the domestic scene he has overcome both injury and serious illness and looks destined to fill the position currently filled by long serving Denis Irwin.

Twickenham, March 16th 1996. England return to the running game to clinch victory in style over Ireland and retain the Five Nations Championship.

Gary Neville by Keith Fearon.

A graduate of Manchester Uniteds prolific youth scheme Gary Neville has become an integral part of Alex Fergusons squad during the 1990s. At just 20 years of age Gary made his full England debut and has become a regular fixture since his breakthrough at Euro 96. His excellent control and ability to read the game have shown him to be one of the countrys most accomplished right side defenders and he is certain to remain a permanent fixture on both the domestic and international scene for many years to come.
