DHM1414. Charge of the 17th Lancers at the Battle of the Balaclava by Brian Palmer. After taking horrendous casualties during the infamous charge, the 17th lancers were the first to reach the Russian guns at the end of the Valley. From the 673 men who started the charge, 113 men were killed and many others wounded. The Light Brigade was made up of the 4th and 13th Light Dragoons, 8th and 11th Hussars and the 17th Lancers. A spectating French officer, General Pierre Bosquet proclaimed - It is magnificent but it is not war. Signed limited edition of 1150 prints. Image size 25 inches x 15 inches (64cm x 38cm)

Depicting the charge before they reach the Russian guns, the picture starts to show a confusion beginning to appear in the desperate charge. Customers should note that a tiny bit of damage to the original painting is visible on our prints. See detail images. These prints were published in the early 1980s by Cranston Fine Arts, and now only a few are available. Open edition print. Image size 30 inches x 19 inches (76cm x 48cm)
