Lawrie Williamson Lawrie was born in 1932 and became "Major Exhibitioner" at the age of 16. He studied at Nottingham College of Art, University of Nottingham and L'ecole des Beaux Arts. He has won the 'Stanley Grimm' and 'Cornellison' prizes at the annual exhibition of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Lawrie has been living in Ireland for 2 years and is happy with his new surroundings, however he recently released this statement: "Since the Art Council's assurance that 'painting is dead' I have taken great comfort from the observation of my good friend Brian Sewell that 'it isn't'. Thus I remain gainfully employed and eternally grateful for his wisdom and support". More about Lawrie Williamson
