The Counter Improvised Explosive Device Task Force was originally composed of Royal Logistical Corps EOD, Pioneer, and Royal Engineer teams.  Currently the C-IED task force is a tri service formation including units from the Royal Navy and RAF. The defenders of the Musa Qala District centre compound comprised of an ad hoc company, made up from elements of Royal Irish, Danish, and 3 PARA, designated E company.  For some 40 days they repelled over 100 attacks.
