![]() ![]() Flight Lieutenant Aubrey Covington (deceased) *Signature Value : £45 | Joined No.226 Sqn flying the Fairey Battle and probably fought during the Battle of France. He then moved to fighters with No.238 Sqn during the Battle of Britain. He claimed an Me110 in September and another two on 1st October, but on both occasions was also shot down himself. Flying Hurricane V6777 on 7th October he baled out and was injured in combat with an Me109. After the Battle of Britain he moved to No.307 Sqn but in bad weather force landed in Ireland and was interned by the authorities, and not released until October 1943. Returning to the RAF, he joined No.127 Sqn flying Spitfires until the end of the war. He remained in the RAF and retired in 1964. He died on 21st December 1994. |
