Clipped Signature - Marcus Robinson Joining 602 Squadron Auxiliary Air Force in September 1933, he was called to full-time service on 24th August 1939 and assumed command of 616 Squadron on 1st May 1940. He saw action over Dunkirk having his Spitfire severely damaged by a Me109, and continued flying during the Battle of Britain before being relieved of his command on 3rd September 1940 and moving to instructing duties. He was awarded the AFC in 1941 and a bar to the AFC in 1944, rising to Group Captain by January 1945. He was released from the RAF in February 1946, reformed 602 Squadron and commanded it until 1951, and was created a CB in 1956. He Died on 23rd March 1998.
