Flight Lieutenant Rodney Scrase DFC (deceased) No Photo Available Flying Spitfires with 72 Squadron, Rodney Scrase operated over North Africa, Sicily and Italy with much success, scoring 4 air victories and 3 damaged. He finished the War with No.1 Squadron from Manston flying bomber escort patrols over Europe. Fl Lt Scrase was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for piloting Spitfires with 72 Squadron in North Africa. His citation listed his 'aggressiveness, outstanding leadership and devotion to duty'. After leaving the RAF he was the chief executive officer of the London Tourist Board and has recently written his biography titles Spitfire Saga, in which he recalls his wartime experiences. He died on 25th February 2018.
