Flight Sergeant Ron Gard
After completing training as a Rear Gunner he was posted in September 1944 to join No,463 Squadron RAAF, part of No,5 Group RAF, based at Waddington in Lincolnshire. Equipped with Lancasters, he took part in raids over Germany and Norway but on the noght of 14th February 1945, on his 17th mission, his Lancaster was shot down over their target near Leipzig. After bailing out he was captured and spent the remainder of the war as a Prisoner of War in Nuremberg.
