Wing Commander Norman Macmillan OBE MC AFC (deceased) No Photo Available Serving in the military at the beginning of the first World War, he was a private in the Highland Light Infantry. After serving in the trenches for more than a year, he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps, flying the Sopwith 1 and a half Strutter and Camel with No.45 Sqn. Awarded the Military Cross, he had scored 9 victories before a flying accident saw him return to the UK out of action. After the war he became an instructor and test pilot, becoming Chief Test Pilot at Fairey Aviation. He wrote extensively on the subject of aviation and was a war correspondent for the RAF during World War Two. He died on 5th August 1976.
