Lieutenant Guy Botwright (deceased)
Guy Botwright was born in Essex on 5th November 1897 and was educated at Brighton College and whilst a member of the Officer Training Corps there in early 1915, he enlisted in the Labour Corps, a forerunner of the Royal Army Service Corps. He served in France with his unit attached to many different regiments and saw action in the battles of Cambrai, Arras and the decisive offensive at Amiens on 8th August 1918. There he was wounded by a shell burst and had to be evacuated back to England. He left the Army in 1919 and worked for a while with the Forestry Commission before joining Schroders Bank in 1920 with whom he worked until retirement. He was also a well-known entomologist and his superb collection of moths and butterflies went to a museum in Brighton. Our sources show he was alive around his 100th birthday in 1997 but we have no further information.
